In today’s National Post I talk to Pico Iyer about his new book, The Man Within My Head.
Today, the first part of my twelve-month series, A Publisher’s Year, runs in the Post. The idea behind the project, my attempt to provide a comprehensive, 360-degree look at the day-to-day operations at a Canadian independent publisher, is Page One, the documentary about The New York Times. I’m describing the series as a “print documentary.” We’ll see how it goes.
In today’s National Post, I talk to G.B. Joyce about his novel The Code. You might know him better as Gare Joyce, one of the country’s best sportswriters.
I’m coming to this one a little late. But better late than never, right? Douglas Coupland and Graham Roumieu collaborate on Highly Inappropriate Tales for Young People.
Brad Smith was one of the first authors I ever interviewed, back when I was writing for Torontoist. I spoke to him again, recently, and my profile runs in today’s paper.
Last week, I had lunch with William Gibson and talked about his first-ever collection of non-fiction, Distrust That Particular Flavor. My story ran today.
Random House of Canada is now the sole owner of McClelland & Stewart. This overshadowed the Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction shortlist, obviously.
Speaking of suits, in today’s National Post I talk to journalist-turned-tailor JJ Lee about his book The Measure of a Man.
My picks for the best books of 2011. Meanwhile, over in Style, I test drive two made-to-measure suit retailers.
